A total of 20 psychiatric university hospitals, 6 child and adolescent university hospitals, 17 state and district hospitals as well as 7 psychiatric and primary care networks are cooperating in the German Research Network on Schizophrenia.
Coordination of the network is effected by an Executive Board (Coordinators of the PN and SN), along with the Head Office, located at the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Düsseldorf.
The network is supported by the World Psychiatric Association (WPA), National Medical Associations (e.g. DGPPN, DEGAM, BVDN), and major health insurance funds (e.g. BKK). Beyond the primary funding by the BMBF, additional sponsoring is provided by pharmaceutical industrial companies (Janssen-Cilag, Lilly, Lundbeck, Sanofi-Synthlabo [as of 04/2001]).
